The anti-cheating campaign „Push Your Brain” has drawn the conclusions of the contest and awarded its winners on November 11, 2007. Around 2500 students from 12 Moldovan Universities have registered for the project, including the universities of Balti, Cahul, Comrat and even Tiraspol. It is worth mentioning that the project was launched with the support of the American Embassy in Chisinau, VictoriaBank and the mobile telephony operator Moldcell. The organizational support of the contest was provided by the Ministry of Education and Youth of the Republic of Moldova.
The contest winners were selected as a result of evaluating their essays written on the topic „The Struggle against the Shameful Practices in the Educational System of the Republic of Moldova” submitted to the organizers during the month of September. However, the participants in the initial stage of the project were selected based on progress records and record-books containing the grades for the summer session. The essays were evaluated by specialists, the representatives of the partners and organizers and will later be sent to the Ministry of Education and Youth of the Republic of Moldova.
The most constructive and interesting proposals were put forward by the students of „Alecu Russo” University in Balti: Lia Ciobanu and Diana Dimitras, both studying at Pedagogy Faculty. Each of the girls won a computer, thus placing the university at the head of the list, with the biggest number of prizes won. The third and the fourth computers went to Natalia Lelis (Academy of Economic Studies) and Lilia Trifanova (Technical University of Moldova). Another big-prize winner is Alexei Dimitrov, a student of Moldova State University.
According to Moldcell Corporate Communications Specialist, Mrs. Rodica Verbeniuc:
„The support of this project brought special pleasure to us, as it identifies proactive and socially responsible young people for the future generation of professionals to be employed after graduation. I would like to mention that I was pleasantly surprised by the numerous constructive solutions offered, which without large financial allocations could redress the situation existing in the educational system by counteracting corruption, plagiarism and indifference. It is a welcome fact that the youth from the whole country express a serious attitude to studies. Moldcell company deploys and supports multitudinous projects aimed at preparing a new generation of professionals, considering the investment in the country’s intellectual potential to be the most valuable one.”
