The world's biggest and most important mobile communications event in 2007 - 3GSM World Congress took place on February 12-15, in Barcelona, Spain.
For the first time, Fintur Holdings BV, the major shareholder of Moldcell, held by the leading telecommunications group in the Nordic and Baltic regions - TeliaSonera (58.55%), has taken part at 3GSM World Congress along with its affiliated companies, among which is Moldcell as well. Over 60 000 people attended the Congress from 2007 and more than 1 300 companies from all segments of telecommunication industry took part in the Congress exhibition where hundreds of new products have made their global debut.
Mr. Yusuf Baykan, Moldcell General Manager, declared: “We intend to return from the Congress keeping in mind many ideas regarding our main purpose - to help Moldova keep up with global telecommunication market tendencies”. The 12th Annual Global Mobile Awards Ceremony also unofficially named “Oscar in Telecommunications” has unfolded during the Congress at Barcelona's spectacular National Palace on February 13th, 2007.
Note: In 2007, 3GSM World Congress was organized by GSM Association (GSMA) - a global trade association, which represents more than 700 GSM mobile phone operators across 217 countries and territories of the world. The members of the Association, among which is Moldcell company, serve overall more than 2 billion customers - 82% of the total number of the world's mobile phone users.
