Moldcell Company at Moldova ICT Summit 2010
During March 30 - 31, 2010, Moldova ICT Summit 2010 took place in Chisinau for the first time. It was a significant event for re-launching of IT sector in the Republic of Moldova, according to the officials in Chisinau.
Organized in the Republic of Moldova by the National ICT Association of Private Companies, USAID Project on Competitiveness Enhancement and Enterprise Development, Microsoft Corporation in Moldova, with the support of mobile operator Moldcell, etc., Moldova ICT Summit 2010 gathered about 1000 representatives of business, regional vendors, national and ICT (information technologies and communication) experts, representatives of the Government to build an economy based on knowledge and information technologies.
The summit had 3 key directions. All of them included sessions presented by Moldcell company and the major shareholder of the operator – the international group TeliaSonera:
- Direction Development4ICT - session „Mobile financial payments: challenges and obstacles. International experience” was presented by Holger Haljand, Development Manager EMT AS, TeliaSonera Group (Estonia);
- ICT4Professionals - „CRM in the practice of mobile operators” by Adela Dorofei, Head of IT Operations Unit, Moldcell.
- ICT4Business - „Mobile solutions for corporate business” by Vasile Bajureanu, Corporate Sales Division, Moldcell.

Participation in ICT Summit 2010 was a very good opportunity for all participants of the event to share precious experience. Being the pioneer in telecommunications, Moldcell presented at the summit three sessions dealing with the considerable experience of the operator and the newly implemented innovations.”
"I am confident the work of this summit will result in the unique offer of the Republic of Moldova to the international community that will bring us into the line with the countries leaders in IT", the Minister of Information Technologies and Communication, Mr. Alexandru Oleinic declared at the opening of the summit.The goal of Moldova ICT Summit 2010 was to mobilize dialogue among the representatives of the government, business and donors through more possibilities for development of the country with the help of implementation of informational technologies and creation of economy based on knowledge where IT sector would be an important catalyst.
During 2-day summit the following issues were discussed: positioning of Moldova on the international arena, interventions of the state to support ITC sector, the possibility of e-payments, the growth of competitiveness, innovations and investments in ITC sector, development of state – private partnership.
